Critical Thinking

Critical thinking is a 21st century skill that requires our students to apply both inductive and deductive reasoning. Students learn to think of large ideas as a composition of contributing ideas. Analysis and evaluation are applied to every new idea and connections are made to both old and new information. Students are able to interpret information and draw conclusions. They continuously reflect critically on their thinking and understanding.

Problem Solving

Problem solving skills allow students to address many different kinds of problems in both familiar and unfamiliar ways. The problem solving process includes asking questions and continuing to ask questions to clarify and in turn ask new questions.

Communication

Communication skills include oral, written, and non-verbal communication. To be good communicators, student must be effective listeners, be able to communicate for different purposes, understand and utilize media and technology communications, and adapt to diverse environments with multilingual skills.

Collaboration

Collaboration skills encompass the ability to effectively work in diverse teams, to be flexible, and to be willing to be helpful and compromise to achieve a common goal.

Creativity

Thinking creatively includes elaborating and refining ideas to develop new ideas. Students are open to new ideas and can successfully work with others with diverse perspectives. They are able to see failure as an opportunity to learn.
