Comments:

Educreations is very easy to use so it is a good choice for younger students.  Educreations is best for very short screencasts because editing is limited.  You can pause, undo, and start over; but you can't go back and edit a particular portion of the screencast.  Once you save the screencast, no more editing is available so screencasts must be begun and completed in one seating.

Screencasts can be saved locally or sent to the educreations web site. The teacher can create a class Educreations account in order to permit students to see other screencasts for their class without needing to make the screencasts visible to the public. Students join a class by creating an account and using a join code.

On the windows platform, it is awkward to draw with a mouse, so a tablet may be preferable.
